Hello!  I'm Jennifer Crane, founder of Age With Dignity!  I am a Gerontologist & Certified Dementia Practitioner.®  I provide one-time and ongoing consultation services for older adults, their family members and individuals who care for older adults, whether they have general questions or need more detailed guidance. My purpose is to connect my clients with the right resources for their unique aging needs. Discover my story, my approach & values, and my experience, then let’s connect to understand how I can help!

MY STORY

I grew up in an extended family with plenty of older adults (grandparents, great aunts and uncles, and great grandparents) who took part in all manner of family activities. They were respected and tended to live long lives. When I was born, I had 12 living grandparents (4 grand, 8 great-grand), and my family had a double five-generation photo published in the local paper. I cherished my older relatives and older family friends and enjoyed visiting them, helping them with their needs, and learning from their wisdom.

Over the years, I saw these treasured loved ones grapple with the challenges of aging and eventually pass on. In time, I made a commitment to myself and to them that I would learn everything I could to help older people and their caregivers to find positive outcomes and improved quality of life, wherever possible.

After years of being a stay-at-home mom, I went back to school. I worked very hard and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, followed by Master’s degree in Gerontological Services. More recently, I became a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) – underscoring my commitment to help older adults, particularly those with cognitive impairment or dementia.

MY APPROACH & VALUES

I have a passion to help older adults by addressing their struggles in a way that leads to positive outcomes and improved quality of life. This is reflected in my approach in three key values.

EVERY PERSON HAS THE RIGHT TO LIVE WITH DIGNITY

I am committed to helping older adults understand how they can live a full life that affords them the respect and dignity that is rightfully theirs. I seek to understand what their needs and concerns are and how I can help to meet those needs.

EVERY PERSON IS A UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL

I believe that every person I work with is a unique individual with his/her own views, values, dreams, and history. I strive to know what makes each person tick and relate to them where they are.

THERE IS NO COOKIE-CUTTER APPROACH TO SUPPORT AND CARE

There is no one approach to support and care that will work for all older people in all cases. I practice person-centered care, which is customized to meet the spiritual, mental, emotional, physical and psychosocial needs of the individual.
